NFL Week 14: Still no dumb title

Lots of talk about this one -- the angle doesn't go that high, but something definitely affected this ball's flight. Could it have been the wind?

"Still No Dumb Title" should be the name of the Cleveland Browns' NFL Films year in review.

 

Just heard the NFL will play four games in London next year. Teams won't be announced until Tuesday, but you have to figure the Jaguars will be in one, probably two of them.

Redskins, Rams, Raiders and Chargers are among the contenders to lose a home game based on percentage of seats filled. (Browns may actually be safe.)

 

Jags have a side deal for an annual London game, and the Rams playing multiple London games is either a condition of their being allowed to relocate, an excuse to avoid the Coliseum or both.

If so, the Chargers and/or Raiders might be in on them, too, but these London games don't play as well on the West Coast for obvious reasons. However, I'd read that the NFL seems willing/interested in scrapping the 9 a.m. ET start times to go back to the original 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. London time) starts, since the former is terrible for the West Coast and typically nukes pre-game show ratings across the board.

And to address a previous question about why they still bother, I noticed in the NFL article on the topic that all three games sold out last year.

Looks like the Steelers will face the league's top rushing attack without nose tackle Javon Hargrave, who is doubtful with a concussion. Hargrave had also taken on Cameron Heyward's role as an interior pass rusher on third downs in recent weeks. They also might be without Ramon Foster on the offensive line. The Steelers have been relying heavily on the run during their three-game winning streak and Foster has been a big part of that.

The Steelers need to win out to be assured fo an AFC North championship. If they lose to the Bills, the Ravens could lose the Christmas Day game against in Pittsburgh and still win the division. That would mean winning at New England Monday night, but that is certainly possible.

 

Isn't weather Sunday if Buffalo supposed to be shitty?
As in, passing could be difficult.

 

Yup, another reason why I find the injuries up front to be such a concern for the Steelers. Pittsburgh's only real advantage on Buffalo is Roethlisberger. Take that away, or at least slow him down with the weather, and that's trouble.

 

That, and Tyrod Taylor can't pass worth a lick. Buffalo needs to run the single wing.

I have no doubt McCoy will have a 100-yard game. They need to keep him from having a 150-yard/200-yard game.

 

If you thought last week was fun at Lambeau, according to Bob McGinn, heavy (6-8") snow is forecast for Green Bay starting Saturday night. Sunday's 4 p.m. start against Seattle could be reminiscent of this gem from 1985.

 

A bad field could be tough on McCoy's running style, but yeah, he's going to be a hell of a lot tougher to stop than the last three opponents they faced.

That's 217 yards and TDs of 40 and 57 yards in a freaking blizzard.

 

Hey, I'm trying to find some positives here. I was just hoping a slippery surface might make some of those cuts tougher to execute. Roethlisberger is pretty good when it is ugly, too, but bad weather definitely favors the Bills.
