ESPN LA radio throwing out names like both Harbaughs, Pete Carroll and Jon Gruden.

It will probably end up being the tight ends coach from Jacksonville or Kansas City.

 

Shanahan couldn't coach for shit in DC.

These coaches have career spans. Shanny is done. Find someone new.

 

Anybody with juice would be a fool to take it. Busted roster, money tied up in a rookie quarterback who has shown zero promise, no first-rounder this year. Maybe Kiffin hasn't signed the lease yet in Del Boca Vista.

 

Kroenke will break any salary record you can find if it means getting the right coach for the new stadium. This season has turned him and them into a joke.

My prediction is that the first coach, whoever it is, spends a month trying to figure out what the fuck they saw in Jared Goff and ships him out.

 

Shanahan also being rumored for San Francisco if/when Baalke and Chip are shown the door. The former is a certainty, but the latter seems more likely after the 49ers pissed away a second-half lead to the Jets.

 

The only well-run California NFL franchise is thisclose to leaving the state. Well played 2016.

 

Gruden's name gets thrown around every year. He's got too much of a good thing going. Jim Harbaugh leaving Michigan after just two years seems fast even for him. Sincerely doubt the other two leave their stable gigs to the unknown of the Rams.

I hear Jeff Garcia is looking for a coaching job and is pissed San Jose State didn't hire him.

 

What an awful state of affairs that the Raiders is the best run California team. The fucking Raiders.

 

I only wish there was a Hard Knocks extra of today's scene of the Turk knocking on Fisher's door.

 

I think we're talking about a Simpsons level, "Yale International Airport" amount of money to get a guy with a decent reputation in there though. And I think whoever the new coach is, he can probably move on from Goff without much push. Give him a token chance to win the job in the preseason, and if he can't, bye bye.

 

Why wouldn't someone take the job, though? Kroenke does not seem overly meddlesome or unwilling to spend money and there isn't a power-obsessed GM in the way either.

That should be a plum job -- decent talent base (mostly on defense but a few other parts too), attractive setting for free agents and whatever money you need.
