How about if you were a reporter covering two businesses in a dispute. You have sources that give you embarrassing information about both businesses.

So you write a story using the information on one business and have your ad manager call the other, let them have a peek at what you could write about them and ask if they'd like to increase their ad buy in the spirit of friendship.

I very much doubt Russia went to the trouble because they disagreed with Hillary on abortion.
