Is the Santa Claus-dying kid story made-up b.s.?

It's really unfortunate, because the last time someone invented a bullshit story about visiting a dying kid at the family's request under nearly identical circumstances, the kid pulled through.

Has the columnist said how he got the story? Did the guy just call him up?

Watch the video linked earlier. He heard about it from an old friend who heard it word-of-mouth.

Somebody who knew somebody who knew somebody called him.

It will be the reporter who verifies that the story is fake who gets beat up.

But will that happen? If Santa sticks to his guns, and provides no details, it will be hard to disprove.

The best someone might do is to check with all the local hospitals to try to verify it.

And, the thing is, if you contact your local children's hospital, they'll be happy to help you tell a true heartwarming/heartbreaking story:

Have there been any dead 5-year-olds in the Knoxville obituaries this fall?

This happened "a few weeks ago." Not even Christmas season.

Hallmark Channel will definitely get in a bidding war for this one.
