Common Core an unexpected flashpoint in Rex Tillerson’s nomination

Uh oh. Rex Tillerson supports Common Core learning standards!

I wonder if he actually understands that President Trump won't be able to get rid of them as he promised during the campaign. Maybe he could explain that to the president-elect.

The fun part is the little dance Betsy DeVos is doing on the topic. She was part of groups that supported Common Core, then came out against it once Trump chose her for Secretary of Education. I'm not sure she understands what it would take to get rid of Common Core, either, but that just adds to the reasons why she was a lousy choice for the job. '

I'll work YF's corners here a little and say Obama was no better on education and John King, Jr. was almost as bad of a choice as DeVos.

Nah. I don't hate public schools enough for Trump to pick me.

Got anything relevant or useful to say on the topic?

There's a whole bunch of folk here who don't understand information classification and declassification, but really think they do.

What did she say that was a "mistake?"

    Nothing.

None of these headlines tweeted out by major news organizations present the incident as HER account. It's reported as factual.

A whole bunch of folk here also fell for a "5-year-old died in Santa's arms" story.

Pansy pussyass Daily Kos has scrubbed any and all mention of the Ioffe incident. To the last letter.

Word has gotten out: it may be very very dangerous to talk nasty about the God Emperor and the Pretty Princess.

    Be careful.

The stories themselves reported it factual or did they clarify she was alleging it?

Will preface to say this is *NOT* going to happen.

Anyway, some Harvard prof is saying up to 20-30 electors might not vote for Trump. Which is their right under the system.

If 37 vote for someone else, Trump isn't president.

There is no way this happens. The only thing that gives me doubt is that EVERY other ridiculous thing has happened during this election cycle. Why not this?

If even 10 voters don't go for Trump, he's got less than 300. He wins, of course, but further makes the Republican false claim of a "mandate" a complete joke.

That would be amusing. And again, I'm aware this won't happen. Just thinking.

The ones that filed lawsuits will be removed as electors if they cast a vote other than the candidate they pledged to vote for. Federal courts will not decide this issue right now.
