Well, he could decide to try trampling on state's rights. I wouldn't put it past him.

With no independent research on my own, I'll argue this on your terms.

If any elector can be removed, what is the point of this system? Seems like it's pointless.

Until of course the next time a Republican wins, in which case they'll change it right back.

Franklin Pierce's wife didn't really perform "First Lady" duties the first couple of years of his term because she was grieving over the death of their young son, who had died after the election, but before Pierce took office, when a train car they were travelling on derailed. She thought it was divine punishment for Pierce running for president, which she had opposed.

Also, from Wikipedia (yeah, I know, reliability and all)

Several women who were not presidents' wives have served as First Lady, as when the president was a bachelor or widower, or when the wife of the president was unable to fulfill the duties of the First Lady herself. In these cases, the position has been filled by a female relative or friend of the president, such as Martha Jefferson Randolph during Jefferson's presidency, Emily Donelson and Sarah Yorke Jackson during Jackson's, Mary Elizabeth (Taylor) Bliss during Taylor's, Mary Harrison McKee during Benjamin Harrison's presidency, upon her mother's death, Harriet Lane duringBuchanan's, and Rose Cleveland prior to Cleveland's marriage.

How many presidents talked publicly, frequently and enthusiastically about fucking their daughter?

Fake Santa is more believable than anything told to the people by U.S. intelligence or the State Department.

I'm not so sure. He wouldn't be at 270, but that doesn't mean all the votes would switch to Hillary, either. The election would just go to the House, which means you-know-what.

    Aren't they?

This is how they promoted the story. Are we going to pretend that most people actually read the articles. Headlines, and tweets matter. This is what get's shared all over social media, and it gave the impression that the story was verified.

It would have been very easy to include that these were just claims, but that wouldn't get people nearly as riled up.
