In the old days, the way stars got regular season rest was to show up for the game and then dog it all night. As a customer, I would prefer they just took the game off and I saw an opponent giving its best effort.

It seems like a weird NBA thing too, buying tickets to see the opponents stars. If you are a Grizzlies fan why aren't you happy your team is more likely to get a win in what otherwise would have been a very tough game? Beat the Cavs and you are one game closer to homecourt advantage in the playoffs.

Wouldn't Broncos fans be happy if Tom Brady was out this week?

Or at least stupid back-to-backs. The same teams played the previous night in Cleveland. This happened at least once last year with Knicks-Bulls, I think.

No. There's a reason why teams charge more for the games against Golden State and Cleveland than they do for Sacramento. I have tickets for two Suns games this year, and I'll be happy if the Suns win both, but I specifically bought the tickets for games against teams I wanted to see.

I get why fans will be annoyed. The problem lies with the scheduling, not the team decision.

Yes. As well as every action by Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, etc..... Yab seems to follow the NBA for no reason other than the joy he gets from ripping and hating the rich black men.

At no point the NBA markets its players? Only the team? Memphis, part of the NBA, didn't advertise a package of games that said something to effect of "the 12 game super package including LeBron James and the World Champion Cleveland Cavaliers making their only appearance in Memphis this season. "
No. that never happens. The NBA never markets individual players. It's a team game.

Still, anyone that pays money to see an NBA game before May is paying to watch an exhibition

That's part of the outrage, IMO. This was Cleveland's only trip to Memphis. If you wanted to se LeBron, you're SOL.

But the rest issue isn't about the midseason. Recall at the end of last year Sacramento "rested" quite a few players in the last game of the season, essentially handing the last playoff spot to the Rockets. Resting - for what? Did they have to help move things from Sleep Train Arena to the Golden 1 Center in the offseason?

“I do whatever my coach asks me to do,” James said Tuesday of the decision. “My coach wants me to rest, I don’t buck mycoach."

Odd to see Lebron having a conversation with himself in the NYT.

The Warriors had 41 assists in 45 field goals last night. Their first 36 baskets came off assists.
