I have the same question. Some kind of verbal exchange must have happened outside and carried itself into the restaurant. Anyone have details?

One of the stories I read claimed Mixon made a homosexual slur toward Molitor's friend, but that might have been inside.

She 'batters' him 3 times, inflicting zero damage. He responded by breaking 4 bones in her face and rendering her unconscious. What part of excessive is beyond your understanding?

I was under the impression that he was supposed to play immediately, though.

It was a big penalty. I don't know if it matched the crime, but it wasn't nothing.

They were arguing about which drunken adolescent was more obnoxious.

According to scribe's theory, he still owes her two more smacks to the face.

You're hung up on the result, which is almost irrelevant. He used a single instance of non-lethal force to stop an ongoing attack. If he's justified in using force, the law allows him to use that which is reasonably necessary to stop the threat of bodily harm. It's not a precise equation, though, and there is leeway in favor of the person defending themselves if it is truly self-defense. The courts recognize that in the heat of the moment there isn't time to measure whether a blow to the abdomen might be better than a blow to the jaw.

Not sure why you put quotes around batter. That's precisely what she did.

False. A second blow would clearly be excessive.

Could be true. Dipshits don't need booze to be dipshits ... but oh how it comes in handy.

It's not self defense if he's not in fear. And big tough football player is clearly not in fear of little blonde girl. What he did is retaliate. He didn't defend himself to ward off physical harm.
He clearly used force to harm and punish her not avoid harm to himself.

The only excuse available is that he's developmentally challenged and was unable to appreciate the consequences of his actions.
