I don't think it is "some" who are getting squeezed by higher rates. It is millions and millions.

And I should note, I like the idea of the millions who couldn't afford it now having healthcare. I just don't like the entire being lied to that my rates weren't going to go up.

What coverage? None of her doctors or her hospital would be covered.

My daughter's condition is rare. She needs specialists.

We'd be better of on Medicaid.

Journalists passing along a story that refers to Donald Trump's "latest bankruptcy".

Donald Trump never declared personal bankruptcy.

This is the very definition of fake news.

Yeah. He's never found guilty of anything either, because he always reaches a financial settlement and buys off whoever is suing him without accepting blame. That does not mean that he didn't do what he got sued for, just that he was legally blameless by terms of the settlement.

When "The Trump Company" takes bankruptcy, for some silly reason ordinary people think that maybe Trump ran it into the ground.

Trump's companies filed for bankruptcy protection 6 times according the fact checker at The Washington Post. Given the structure of his companies and his direct involvement it is an appropriate standard to be used to judge him. I think that looking at 6 bankruptcies in a vacuum is unfair. Maybe a person of his stature and in his field of businesses 6 bankruptcies is business as usual. How many other billionaires, and how often, filed for bankruptcy protection for businesses they were significant stake holders and executives?

The Democrats will never win another federal election until they retire the 'sacred victim' card and all forms of identity liberalism.
Bernie Sanders is a complete goof but even he rejected identity politics.
I told you guys four years ago that bad presidents matter, bad policy matters, bad causes have bad effects.
I think the cultural left will get further adrift, it being populated by the most narcissistic, self-serving, navel-gazing generation of our time.
So the party is all but dead. Yay?

Consumers also don't like the perception of footing the bill for others, which is why means-tested welfare programs generate resentment.

    Hillary barely touched identity politics.

Interesting piece, but I don't think you can do a hard analysis of the way the campaign was run by the frequency of words used in speeches.
The reality is Hillary Rodham Clinton helped create a sort of moral panic surrounding race and gender politics.

I hope that nothing can be taken from this election. Clinton was the most flawed major party candidate in modern history, not named trump. And trump is the most unqualified leader of a democratic country in history.

There are so many things that are fucked, but the right/Conservative party has played the media so well since 1994 that mass journalism is the cause of the loss of any civility and integrity this country has had. Fox is an abomination as a news outlet and they set the standard and tone for man stream media.

If Hilary was convicted of a DUI in 1990 and Donald was convicted of rape in 1988, it would be portrayed as 2 criminals and Clinton was the most recent criminal.

BTW those that think identity politics is the cause ofthe left's downfall are only pissed at whose identity has been given prominence. Trump's election is straight identity politics, white Christian identity. And yes, middle class white christians are tired of hearing about black problems, and welfare and crime are disproportionately associated with them. The left needs to be more universalist.
