I realize that your daughter needs specialists. And you made the choice to go off the exchange to allow her to receive treatment from your preferred providers. But are you telling me that there are no specialists in Cook County on the Obamacare exchanges capable of treating your daughter? If it your belief at some point you are unable to afford the private insurance that no treatment is better than an alternate provider.

You stated Obamacare did not improve the process. About three percent of the population is on the exchanges. In Alaska with about 20,000 people on the exchanges in a state with a population of about 700,000. The state did a study and found that about 500 individuals had consumed $55,000,000 of services. My guess is that in Cook County, with a population seven times of Alaska, the ratios are the same. So for those approximately 3,500 people in Cook County looking at medical bills of $100,000 or more a year currently on Obamacare I believe that it does improve their process.

The waiting is finally over. It's presidential election day!

And, thought there's no evidence that any large number of Trump electors will not vote for him -- let alone switch their vote to Clinton -- the Times and the Post have filled their pages with speculation of such, and coverage of the "movement" seeking to sway the electors.

I find it funny that liberals are simultaneously making the argument that the Electoral College should be abolished, and also that this election -- with a uniquely unqualified President elect -- is the exact reason why the EC exists.

So, if enough GOP electors were to earn Martin Sheen's respect, and vote for someone other than Trump, would liberals suddenly love the EC?

I also find it funny that the folks who want to abolish the EC don't also want to abolish the Senate, or even their state senate.

Or, if the concept of one man, one vote is really important to you, why not work on change that is much more possible, and try to abolish super delegates in the Democratic Party primary process? Is there any movement to do this?

You'd think getting rid of super delegates would actually help the Dems. Allowing older, established party members to have a vote, is a good way of missing what's happening among the grass roots.

I'm not trying to be dramatic. We're going to pay an extra $800 per month just in premiums because we couldn't identify a single doctor or hospital that could treat her.

Her broad condition occurs in one out of 2,500 live births. Her specific condition occurs in 7% of those with her condition.

There aren't a lot of doctors qualified or experienced to work with her, and the ones that are work at the top hospitals. None of the three plans offered on the exchange contracted with any teaching hospitals.

To continue to see her doctors, our options were to buy one of two private plans that sold policies to individuals, or to qualify for Medicaid.

Yeah, a massive lobbying effort to try to get the Electoral College to alter the results of a presidential election and oust a president-elect is totally not newsworthy.

Of the two private plans available to us, one was from Harken Health. Harken was a startup, founded as a stand alone subsidiary of UnitedHealth, specifically to offer plans on the newly created exchanges.

In 2016, they offered plans only in Cook County in Illinois, and in Atlanta, Georgia.

They lost so much money in 2016, that without a large cash infusion from their parent company -- something like $69 million -- they would have gone under.

So, this year, Harken is offering no exchange plans, and cancelled planned expansion.

They were terrible to deal with. You couldn't get a hold of people. You couldn't get answers if you did hear from them (which usually happened only after I blasted them on social media).

And, despite this, we were prepared to go with them again, because we were having problems confirming that the BCBS plan really did include our doctors and hospital.

But, we were warned that Harken might not make it through 2017.

So, we went with the one other plan available.

I don't know what we would have done if we couldn't afford it. Probably would have just paid out of pocket until we were broke enough to qualify for medicaid.

I just love the sudden realization that "access journalism" no longer works.

Funny how this just occurred to folks as President Obama leaves office.

    "Media Matters" isn't "journalism."

    A. was the effort "massive"? Beyond a Martin Sheen video, and some crazies sharing phone numbers and emails on social media, what's the evidence of an organized, let alone "massive" effort?

    2. If there's no evidence it has any chance to be successful, how newsworthy is it?

The news coverage of these fools seems more like a PR effort on their behalf than an attempt to inform readers.

LOL. OK. I'll pretend they're the only ones urging an end to "access journalism".
