We don't agree on much, but you are 100 percent correct on this. And when it happens, I don't want to hear shit about the lack of health coverage out of anyone who scribbled in the circle next to an R. Not a fucking word. You asked for it. You got it. Hope you make shit tons of money.

In my Crimson Red nightmare of a state government these Communist programs are not allowed. Such pampering of people too lazy to work is not to be tolerated. Alabama has some of the most restrictive requirements in the nation to get on Medicare, and also among the smallest benefits in the program.

For instance, there *is* no state program for those with traumatic brain injury. Instead, a percentage of the fines for DUI and reckless driving goes to the Alabama Head Injury Foundation, who do all they can with whatever funds they can come up with year by year. A little help comes from the state Vocational and Rehab Services.

Yeah. Make the Federal Government more like Alabama. What a great idea. Pure Republican government, from the governor down, in all statewide offices.

The Alabama state high school graduation rate was very low, so they put new programs in place and it dramatically improved. Some new curriculum or teaching philosophy? No, they did it the SEC way. They cheated. The graduation rate increased 17%, third best in the nation, because they started to count things like Special Ed. diplomas, and changed how statistics for how failing and drop out students were categorized. The graduation rate sailed, but measurable achievement on standardized tests did not increase.

I'm reserving judgement on that, in no small part because the new hired gun of a state superintendent Gov. Boobgrabber imported from up north gives off the vibe of someone setting up a long con for the enrichment of himself and a few others with his squawking over this.

Yeah but Alabama is now under federal investigation for possibly cooking the books on its grad rate

The way the candidate who was going to get the Superintendent's job was bureaucratically character assassinated and knocked out of the running, to be replaced with someone with no experience in the job, stunk. Like you, I suspect that ex-Governor Bob Riley and his daughter Mindy's hands are all over it. Look for a lot of state money to go to those charter schools that the Rileys are involved with.

I think the graduation scandal is legitimately illegitimate, though.

Why don't they all just go and get jobs? Bootstraps!
