President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

The country would be a paradise if white men had no civil rights, and white men know it. So assholedom grows as a defense mechanism.

 

I feel like I need to clarify again that I'm not defending what this guy did, I'm just saying, with this election, the assholes won. It showed the side of America we desperately want to pretend doesn't exist. And now that side is in charge. That sets the tone for everyday interaction much more than you seem to think.

If the passengers on this flight are any indication, apparently not. Oh, wait, I forgot about that whole "moral compass" bit ...

 

Definition of "moral compass" is my side, right?

 

If she's participating in some kind of public appearance, okay, maybe I can see someone getting after it. But she was minding her own damn business on a plane, with her kids. The guy was putz, pure and simple. I suppose he thinks he's some kind of big man now. Takes a lot of stones to yell at a woman with kids.
Also, she has the right to public transportation.

 

Can't and won't defend anyone harassing someone like this. Though, it's going to happen a lot on both sides for a long time. There's so much anger out there for which, yeah, Trump is mostly to blame. But this stuff shouldn't happen.

What needs to happen is democrats need to implore their elected officials to block, oppose and prevent every single thing the republicans try to do. There's no super majority. There's no mandate. Trump won't handle that well at all.

Block everything. Including the Supreme Court seat. After all, the people need a chance to vote on what they really want in four years.

 

They don't like Trump. Thus, they have a Creosotal dispensation ...

 

First day of new Congress, Senate can nuke the filibuster and Democrats can't prevent poop

Republican Senators reluctant to do that. Pols always reluctant to give themselves less power. Also, there's an election in 2018. Total control means total responsibility for a country where most voters live in a fantasy world where they get whatever they want and it costs nothing.

 

Pretty unlikely they'll do that. At some point, they won't have control again.
