Another media fanboi?

You guys understand that 90-95 percent of our jobs is to generate interest/revenue in for-profit businesses, right? We're the best free advertising money can buy. So doesn't that make us all fanbois in a way? And I don't think fans particularly care anymore. And there are plenty of sports towns - pro, college, etc. - where the local medai scene is populated by more than a few sports writers/anchors etc. who grew up as a fan of the team and/or attended the school they cover.
And here's teh thing: I don't think the public gives much of a rat's ass about bias so long as the bias is on there side (see Fox News' election ratings for proof).
As for Champion, the morning SportsCenter gig is infotainment, not journalism. They weren't redefining the genre. They had fun with it. Exhale.

Sorry to thread jack and change the way this is going, but anyone else unimpressed with Cari Champion since going to SC? Her stories with players are among the most boring IMO. Her story with Cam on E-60 was a snoozer and those are usually pretty good in my judgement. She is good TV personality and was very good in her role on First Take, but she is meh on SC and in the field doing stories is below average IMO.

My favorite part of the story is the epilogue. Ned took a lot of heat in the following week for what he did, and he felt terrible because he realized the criticism was legit. So the next weekend at Rockingham, he tracks down Earnhardt and apologies profusely for his coverage. Earnhardt wasn't upset and was surprised how much Ned was beating himself up over it. Earnhardt looks at him and says "Ned, don't you ever forget: I'm a daddy, too."
