When I got to the office today, the receptionist said, "Looks like you're moving kind of slow this morning."

    Thanks a bunch!

When the local paper put out the all-area prep football teams today and a ton of the names are familiar, because I went to high school with their parents.

I could be worse, you could have covered their parents when they played in high school

I've started to think that in Christmas Vacation Clark's mom looks pretty damn good ...

I remember, very distinctly, the first time I felt old, or at least, realized I was certainly "getting older." I had my appendix removed while in Afghanistan in October 2012, and when I rolled out of the bed the morning after I was released from the hospital, it was a pain I couldn't have imagined.

Smashmoush is considered "retro" by high school kids in my city, at least from looking at locker decorations while attending a school band concert.

I've felt like an old fart since that day somebody decided that "boys" should be spelled with a "z".

Speaking of retro -- at Target last night, ran across a display for the game "Clue" -- a special Retro Edition!

    The year? 1986.

...and Clue (1985) is considered a minor classic by some.

An ex-boyfriend and I always get a laugh or two looking at The Beloit Mindset List. It was required reading when he taught at NYU.

My father was my age when he died. I'm not sure I feel old so much as I feel very mortal. Sheer cussedness and an unfinished bucket list keep me going.
