Lack of perspective? Yes.

And the question I hear from my family and some friends is: Why is America taking refugees? Out of a moral duty? When does America fulfill that moral duty? Does it go on perpetually?

I think there's a presumption on part of many liberals that it's the right thing to do. I'm not sure most people - even some liberals - agree.

It's a legitimate question. Why are we doing this? For whom? For how long? What are the repercussions? What are the advantages?

Trump's withering worldview has traction precisely because it seems remotely related to reticence, to hesitation.

Remember: Most liberal politicians, who happily welcome refugees, never have to live near them, and they never have to lose jobs to them.

 

Let's not take Syrian refugees. Can we send the Cuban refugees back too, please? South Florida should be part of the USA, not Latin America.[/bluefont?]
