If this year's election should have taught us anything, it was that speculating about who will run for the Democrats and what their chances might be is ridiculous.

    True.

But four years is both a long and short time in politics. Nobody saw Trump winning four years ago.

That is exactly my point. Right now, we don't know who is going to run for the Democrats. We don't know what their reputation will be at the start or the end of that race. We certainly don't know how Trump will govern or how he will be viewed in four years. YF is just assuming he will be a strong, well-liked incumbent. Not that YF waits for evidence when it is a narrative he like, but those of us with a clue are taking a wait-and-see approach.

This is great. More please. Throw a "damned" in there or something.

I'm still working my way up to your level of condescension Alma.

Ways to go, my friend. If Alma cites something I don't know, I think, "I need to learn more on that."

If you cite something I haven't heard, I think, "Glad I got the radio knob fixed so I don't have to listen to Rush today."

The GOP supposedly had a deep bench for 2016, but ended up playing a walk-on.

Predicting what might happen in 2020 with the Democrats (or even the GOP) is folly.

How far in advance did anyone think that Obama was a serious contender?

In 1961, when they first forged his birth certificate.

I think after the '04 DNC. It was a matter of when.
