"Even though the facts were wrong, the accusation spurred Romney to release his tax returns."

Romney had refused to release his tax returns. Reid made the false accusation, and put Romney between the rock and the hard place. Either release the taxes, or continue to let Reid's accusation simmer.

Romney brought it upon himself. Reid wouldn't have decided to put out the accusation had Romney released his tax returns in the first place.

    Sorry tbf. That was inappropriate.

As a bit of background, one of my friends on the west coast (Navy vet) lost a leg from the shin down back in July. We've been trading messages and I've been trying to cheer him up. He's been very receptive to dark humor (and even the suggestion of stump porn, which, no, I haven't actually found, but I am SURE it exists).

I know you are on the front end of these severe cases, so that previous comment was raw - I apologize.

On the other side - recovery and coping - if you have any resources that I can share with my friend, please let me know here or by PM. Or I can PM my email address to you.

    Regards,
    VB

    Ends always justify means, eh?

Nobody brings false accusations on themselves. Nobody. Ever. No matter what "vital information" you're trying to acquire that they are keeping under wraps.

    Tough shit. He's a Republican.

The same party that accused the current president of not being a U.S. citizen.

The same party that accused the current president of not loving the country.

The same party who questioned the patriotism of a Senate candidate who had their legs blown off in Vietnam.

The same party who said who claimed John Kerry exaggerated his wounds to receive a Purple Heart, even though his fellow crewmates said he was telling the truth.

The same party that questioned the patriotism of everyone who was against their war for fake WMDs.

The same party who secretly tape recorded a rape victim (at least, the Republicans insist she is one), then threatened her with perjury for not wanting to get involved in their vendetta with the president.

The Republicans have been doing the same style of attacks for years and then they cried foul when the Democrats dared to use the same exact tactics against them, and on something that shouldn't even have been much of an issue.

False accusations certainly worked against Hillary Clinton.

    Yes they did.

But she did not bring any false allegations on herself.

    And neither did Romney.

Nobody brings false accusations on themselves. Nobody. Ever.

No matter what "the other side" has done. The people bringing knowingly false accusations are always in the wrong. Always.

Hillary Clinton brought a healthy dose of skepticism on herself. And nothing more.

You cannot see that you're just old_tony from the left, can you? You mock him for silly blind party loyalty, and you're no different. Just more OOP-like in your presentation and last-wordishness.

I listed multiple times when Republicans chose to hit below the belt. For once, one of the Democrats was willing to hit below the belt as well, and four years later, Republicans are still crying about it, even as they've continued to do nothing more than hit below the belt.

Reid wouldn't have needed to if Romney hadn't left himself wide open by refusing to release his tax returns, just like, any other pre-2012 recent presidential candidate on either side. How many times should the Democrats have to let Republicans keep going low before they should retaliate?

There was no need for any false accusation. All Romney had to do was do the same thing as any other recent presidential candidate from both parties did and release their tax returns. Instead, either in his arrogance, or his desire to keep things secret, he chose to not to.

    Yeah, right.

"For once." Scary thing is, you really believe it.

    Sheeeesh.

You had it right. And couldn't resist fucking it up.

When did Democrats question a military amputee's patriotism?

When did Democrats question a Republican presidential candidate's Purple Heart?

When did Democrats secretly tape record a rape victim to serve their own vendetta?

    Sheeesh.

There are 23,543,548,187 ways to hit below the belt. Just because the Democrats didn't use the three you carefully selected . . . oh, never bleeping mind. You're right. They did it once -- just once --- in the nation's 240-year history --- and it was completely deserved. You win, oop.
