    I don't understand your point.

My point is millions of refugees are fleeing war-torn countries in the Middle East, particularly Syria.

Most of them are just trying to get somewhere safe where they can rebuild a life, and Europe is the closest place that seems possible.

So places like Germany have taken in a million, other countries close to that. The USA -- which lit a match on this whole mess -- agreed to take like 10,000.

And bitched and whined and did everything possible not to take them, or to be damn sure they didn't come to OUR state.

That when people flee troubled places, the countries closest to them bear the biggest influx.

And that's what's happening here except the USA also offered to take a tiny fraction.

Of course Starman watched it live. You-know-who, though, covered it live on his way back from the Super Bowl. BTW, NASA provided a satellite feed for many schools, but Starman already knew that.

A lot of schools were likely hooked up, if not to CNN, then some NASA closed circuit broadcast, since that was Christa McAuliffe's flight.

Well, this was 1986 and a lot of school districts weren't "hooked up" up to cable or satellite feeds at all. That didn't become mostly universal until the early-mid 1990s.

The overall point remains that having watched the Challenger explode on TV at school doesn't add inches to your dick. Nor does it make you better or tougher than anyone else.

I think it does add an inch, in girth, if you post it on Facebook.

I don't know if we watched it live, but I am pretty sure at my school they showed the replays constantly from the big three networks while our principal intoned over the loudspeakers "watch, watch as your dreams die. Give up all hope you worthless pieces of shit."

Of course, it was a Catholic school.
