Can someone explain the obsession w/Ronda Rousey

Not really. Rousey had a great run, but it is clearly over now. Did Kournikova ever have that type of run? She was good, ranking as high as No. 8 in the world, but she never won a singles title.

 

Oh my god, you didn't just compare Ronda Rousey (or Danica Patrick for that matter) to Anna Kournikova, did you?

Looks-wise, that is.

You have an awful lot of confidence in WWE writers.

The problem with Rousey now is that a role in the WWE is kinda murky. They could portray her as a dominant force, but the fans may not be willing to accept her as such because of these losses, or want to see her (scripted) run roughshod through the established women's wrestlers. And they likely won't want to bring her in for a lot of money to lose.

Probably the best role for her would be similar to the role Floyd Mayweather did when he participated in Wrestlemania a few years back. She'll have to play a villain, but get help from others to defeat the established wrestlers. This way, she ends up winning, and the established wrestler who works with her doesn't end up looking like crap next to her.
