Need to write mine through again. Beyond not knowing for whom Buster Posey played, I totally forgot that I saw Bon Jovi play last September in Macau.

And I can now update with Ukraine, though next week I'll change my answer again to Bosnia.

NYC was actually 2015. I was thinking travel for pleasure, but there was a work-related trip in 2015.

    Just awful.

    First ...

MLB game: 1978, Angels at White Sox. Don't remember who won, but my dad caught a foul ball from Jorge Orta. Kept that for many years.
NBA game: Early 1980s Chicago Bulls game
NHL game: Early 1980s Blackhawks game
NFL game: 1988, Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears. Only NFL game I've attended. The 16-year-old me was amused to see all the empty liquor bottles and flasks left in the bleachers as we walked out.
MLS or other major soccer: Never
College football game: Northwestern vs. Wisconsin, mid or late 1980s. Back when both teams were truly awful.
College basketball game: 1980s, a DePaul game at the Rosemont Horizon
Other college sporting event: Club hockey games, when I was a college student. Of course, I also covered a wide variety of sports for the college newspaper.
Concert: Rush, Power Windows tour, 1986, Rosemont Horizon. I was 14. Been a huge fan ever since.
    Auto race: never
Theater performance that your children were not in: My high school's production of "Anything Goes." I dug one of the girls in the cast (pathetic, I know).
Movie: Supposedly I saw "Star Wars" in the theater with my aunt, uncle and cousin in 1977. Don't remember anything about it.
    Wedding: My aunt, late 1970s.
High school sporting event: Local high school football and basketball games when I was in junior high.
    Olympics: never
Political rally: An ERA ratification rally in Illinois, with my parents, early 1980s. Also some very low-key Earth Day events. My mom was (still is) a bit of a lefty. Must be an inherited gene ...
    New York City: Never
Foreign country: The border town of Nogales, Mexico, in the mid 1980s.

    MLB game
: Boston at Cleveland in 1992, Municipal Stadium. Fewer than 10,000 in attendance, but Tribe came back from 5-0 down. I recall Carlos Baerga homered. (Scoreboard Jumbotron: By land, by sea, Baerga.)
NBA game: 1992-93, Shaq's rookie year. Cavs-Magic, Orlando Arena
    NHL game: N/A
NFL game: A Jags game in 2006. Can't recall if I covered it or attended as a guest of ticket holders. Went to a lot of Jags games from 2006-2011.
MLS or other major soccer: USMNT: May 26, 2012 friendly vs. Scotland, EverBank Field, Jacksonville
College football game: 1995 CompUSA Florida Citrus Bowl, Alabama-Ohio State
College basketball game: A Florida State game during 2001-02 season. Went to a lot of games for a terrible team that year in the sparse REZ (Robinson Energy Zone) student section. But skipped the Sunday they beat No. 1 Duke. The Simpsons were on. D'oh.
Other college sporting event: Nothing of note. 2001-02 at FSU
Concert: 1991, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Coming Out of Their Shells Tour at King Center, Melbourne, Fla.
Real music: 1998 Warped Tour, a parking lot in Sanford, Fla.
Auto race: I was 3 years old, but I recall this happening in downtown Columbus, Ohio.
Theater performance that your children were not in: The Lion King, 2007, T-U Center, Jacksonville.
Wedding: My parents' remarriage to each other, 1997, in our Palm Bay, Fla. yard.
High school sporting event: Probably a Palm Bay HS football game in the mid-90s
    Olympics: Not yet.
    Political rally: Not yet.
New York City: March 2009 for the Columbia Scholastic Journalism Institute with my journalism students. Watched No. 5 seed FSU get upset in OT by No. 12 Wisconsin after midnight at the late ESPN Zone in Times Square.
Foreign country: Vancouver before an Alaskan cruise, June 2012.

MLB game: Dodgers at Reds, May 1994. Redlegs got pasted 10-3 at Riverfront.
NBA game: Magic at Hawks, Dec. 1994. When I looked it up just now I discovered the Hawks won 107-105, which I didn't remember. I remember nothing about this game except that the Omni had shit views from the upper deck and I have the least amount of fucks I ever have at sporting event I attended. A group of four of us had come over from Tuscaloosa and went to this game immediately after watching the Tide lose a heartbreaker to Florida in the first SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome (RIP). We got tickets because one of the guys was from Orlando and a huge Magic fan.
NHL game: Red Wings at Blues, a 4-4 tie, Jan. 1994 (finally got to get out and explore the world that year).
NFL game: Jags at Falcons, 2002 preseason. Was there for the Valdosta paper obstensibly to cover Dusty Bonner's NFL debut for Atlanta. When he didn't play in the preseason opener, that told you all you needed to know.
College football game: 1992, Alabama at Tulane. Got free tickets as a high school senior for touring the campus and allegedly thinking of going to school there. Tickets were the corner of the Superdome's upper deck, which was being used for a Green Wave game for the first time in 10 years.
College basketball game: Random Tennessee Tech home game, sometime in the mid to late 80s.

    MLB game
: Giants at Phillies, 1982. I was 5 years old. I remember my dad getting pissed because the hot dog guy was in his way and he missed seeing Gary Matthews hit a home run.
    NBA game: Never been
    NHL game: Never been
NFL game: A Saints-Chiefs preseason game in the Superdome in 1986
MLS or other major soccer: Never been
College football game: 1994, Texas A&M vs. LSU in Tiger Stadium. Leeland McElroy had a long touchdown run and tore LSU up.
College basketball game: Some LSU game in the 1994-95 season, during my freshman year of college.
Other college sporting event: Went to a bunch of LSU baseball games in the 1996 season, the year they won the national championship on Warren Morris' walk-off homer.
Concert: First real concert was 1997, Metallica in the Cajundome in Lafayette, La. Won tickets off the radio. I went to a few before that at Six Flags, including a Cheap Trick show in the rain in '94 or '95. I worked at Six Flags, got done early because it was pouring, but was stuck there because my ride had to work.
High school sporting event: Not counting the swim meets I was part of, probably a high school football game in 1990, my freshman year of high school. It was a state playoff game and we got smoked 55-10. We had a future NFL player at quarterback, and went three years without winning another game.
Political rally: A Tea Party rally a few years ago when the whole thing was just getting started. I was bored, figured I'd go see how weird it was. Some people didn't disappoint, but it was pretty mundane.
New York City: Sometime in the mid-1980s. My mom went up there for a short business trip, and afterward we went to the UN because it was a Sunday and I think that was the only thing open. A few years later I went on a school trip to the UN. For a long time, it seemed like that was the only thing I ever saw in New York. I grew up less than 100 miles away and have never been to the Empire State building or Statue of Liberty.
Foreign country: Mexico. Spent an ill-fated afternoon and evening in Juarez on spring break 1998 and kissed the ground when I finally got back across the border for good. Never leaving the country again if I can help it.
