Last movie you watched......

  1. That movie has been getting savaged in the reviews I've read.

  2. My No. 2 wants to see Assassin's Creed. (So do I). We'll probably check it out Friday afternoon.

Same here. Not sure I should get into the spoiler-filled one that went to the point of calling it disturbing due to some of the characters' choices.

99 cent movies on iTunes. Got a few rented.
    The Great Gatsby
    Any Given Sunday

  5. Finally watched the Revenant last night.
    A solid meh.

LOVED the book. The movie was OK. I don't see how it was a Best Film or Picture nominee.

Finally got around to seeing Rogue One today and loved it. It was a perfect prequel to Episode 4, I thought.

Like I heard, it was a little more intense than your usual Star Wars movie, and to me came off as a science fiction version of a good ol' fashioned war movie, which was fine with me.

Of course, with the timing of my viewing, my thoughts were about Carrie Fisher and her iconic role, and then after I came out of the theater and turned my phone back on, I learned of Debbie Reynolds' passing. Eerie.

    Dead Poet's Society.

I probably would have liked it better in 1989.

Watched "The Shallows" with Blake Lively last night. It was pretty good, definitely tense. Shark was well done and the movie zipped along pretty quickly. Plus it was about 90 minutes of Blake in a bikini. It scored about 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, which seems about right.

    Fences.

It's OK. Denzel was Denzel and Viola could snag a Supporting Actor nod but the movie as a whole was just sort of meh.

One of those movies that really only effects you if you are a certain age.
Within five years of seeing it, the movie no longer held an resonance. Just purple and sappy.
