It had been decided that L&L were siblings by then. Leia was trying to piss Han off by coming on to Luke.

Obi-Wan is mid-late 30s at the end of ROTS, which would put him in the mid-50s in ANH. A well-worn mid-50s maybe.

Alec Guinness was 63 in 1977, though he looked older. Maybe it was the beard.

  4. I just don't like how Rey knew how to use the force and fight all of a sudden. Luke trained with Yoda and still got his hand cut off by Vader!

He was a smoker. Boom. Problem solved.

I think Kylo Ren was suffering from the Lena Dunham effect.

    No, it hadn't.

I don't think that we're to take it that she's an instant badass. She holds her own against another amateur on instinct, basically. That's why Ren says, "You need a teacher." She has potential, that's it.

Dialogue near the end of TESB:

Ghost Obi-Wan: That boy was our last hope.
    Yoda: No, there is another.

Yes, and I knew you were going to point to that. But that wasn't initially written as a reference to Leia. It was to build tension by making the audience believe that Luke could conceivably die. Lucas's margin notes for his draft screenplay for "Jedi" read, "Sister!!!" It's a twist he came upon while working on "Jedi," because the Vader twist in "Empire" was such a huge cultural phenomenon.

Moments after Yoda refers to "another," Leia senses Luke in danger hanging from the antenna underneath the floating city on Bespin.

    That's the clincher.

Because they had a connection. Lucas was writing about a love triangle. The sibling plotline was written as an explanation for the events of "Empire Strikes Back," not the other way around. Lucas did not intend for brother and sister to make out.
