League rules mandate that someone from the AFC South has to go to the playoffs, and the AFC South is gawdawful. It's not hard to figure out.

Can't it be stupid, deplorable and funny?

It certainly is different because it is tougher to see any impact this might have on the field even if Porter is fired or suspended from his duties due to the incident.

I think it really hurt the league that Cam Newton and Carolina were so bad this year. Newton seemed poised to break through as a reliable "elite" quarterback to join the guys who have held that status forever - Brady, Rodgers, Brees, maybe Roethlisberger. He was the league's biggest emerging star a year ago, and he's basically disappeared from the landscape since the start of last year's Super Bowl. Not a good turn of events.

I don't know the steps of the concussion protocol, but why are you assuming that they didn't put him through a full evaluation? The guy was clearly fine. There are plenty of times the NFL gets it wrong (Colt McCoy in Space immediately jumps to mind), so it seems silly to waste any thought at all on this instance.

He was down for a while. Just because he claimed later that it was his back, not his head, doesn't mean that he had no symptoms. Also, how was it his back when the major impact was to his head? If they said they had been checking out his neck and told him to stay down while they did so, that would have made more sense based on the hit.

Every such incident should be questioned thoroughly. This stuff is too dangerous to take chances. I agree that this doesn't rise to the level of McCoy a few years back, but that doesn't mean the Dolphins did it right in this case. I'm just glad the guy is okay. It certainly looked bad at first.

I thought he died on the field watching it in real time. Dupree absolutely wrecked him. The major impact was really to Moore's chest, with some of it getting him in the facemask. Moore was moving forward, so I'm guessing the hit kind of bent him backwards? Either that or Dupree put Moore's lungs into his spine.

You seem to be saying the medical staff only evaluated his back, which is not the case. Again, I'm not sure why you're assuming they didn't give him a thorough examination for a concussion.

No, I'm saying that Moore claimed he was down so long because he hurt his back, not any concussions symptoms, and I'm not sure I buy it. If a guy is down that long after a blow to the head, I'm going to be suspicious if he misses just one play.

Doesn't it feel like a total 34-10 or 38-10 win though?

New England 31, Houston 7. Mark that score down. No reason to watch. Spend Saturday night with your loved ones.

What I'll be curious about is that the Steelers, Packers and Cowboys always get a lot of public money that they usually have inflated lines.
