Look! Here's a post by a liberal which doesn't go to the race card.

Now that we all agree your broad brush is stupid, perhaps you can think more carefully before you determine what "all" of one group or another does?

Democrats are *really* going to regret that precedent that the government has the right to compel economic action

Explain the difference between the "You don't have health insurance" penalty and the "You don't pay mortgage interest" penalty.

It does. It shouldn't have the right to use the threat of taxation as an end-around on restrictions on its power.

    Every person in the country.

IANAtaxlawyer, but I'm pretty sure that second one is made-up.

What RickStain said. Your choices are, buy health insurance or pay the penalty. No such thing exists in home ownership. You don't have to buy a house; and if you do, you aren't required to have a mortgage. The analogous situation would be that even after a person -- let's call him, oh, BTExpress -- pays off his mortgage, he would still have to contribute to the "interest pool" in order to retain ownership of the house.

I'm in favor of the individual mandate, it's the best way to protect against people only signing up when they discover they have a catastrophic injury or illness, but let's not pretend there's choice here. It's absolutely government-mandated spending. And I can see how a conservative person would reject it as a matter of principle.
