Can someone explain the obsession w/Ronda Rousey

They're all world class players and 99 percent of people who ever picked up a racket would envy their careers. If she was average looking people would be able to accept her for the player she was. But she was able to double as a model and maximize her earning, good for her.

Why don't we have these discussions about Rick Fox?

 

He's good looking too.

Not to speak for tbf, but Rousey was a diva the last few months. She took no part in the promotion of the fight, which is unprecedented in combat sports, while making a record $3 million, then gutlessly bolted the octagon and the arena without addressing fans or the media after she was embarrassed again.

 

How dare she not address the fans.

Total bitch move.

Shove a tranq down her throat.

 

She's the Cam Newton of girl fighting.

 

Except the NFL doesn't really need Newton to promote the game to be able to pay his multimillion dollar salary.

 

well, she didn't get to go to 3 colleges, so she's not as educated as he is.

 

Oh, that was just Rousey doing things on "her terms."

I actually like her, but this came off like a near-shameless money grab.

What I did say was it was gutless to not help promote a fight that earned her $3 million, then, after an embarrassing loss, skip out when the cameras were turned.

I realize fighting, and her public image, is her life, but rock bottom? Really? She's young, attractive, rich and famous. If that's rock bottom, I'm doing something wrong.

 

Well...

She's young... but she's also washed up at 29, which has to suck.

She's attractive... for someone who made her living getting punched in the face.

She's rich.

She's famous... but hard to attach much value to that, particularly once that fame shifts to "the mouthy chick who got her ass kicked."

I will agree that it's hard to call this rock bottom, but I don't blame her for feeling like she's in a bad spot. She was a one-trick pony and everyone figured out the trick.
