    How many times now has somebody emerged from a meeting with Trump and said X, Y and Z only to have his team come out and say "Nah, that's not what happened?"

    He's entering office with an approval rating under 40 (two polls, Quinnipiac and Pew, today). He is genuinely bothering his own supporters with late night twitter outbursts. And his own intelligence services believe he's a Russian asset. And he hasn't had a chance yet to make a decision that'd piss people off (all presidential decisions piss someone off).
    When the West Wing was on, I used to think the show wasn't believable because a President who had as many ridiculous dramas as Bartlett did would have the electorate yearning to chuck him out for some peace and quiet. Trump looks like he's on that path.

    And then in 2020 he'll have someone to run against, that person will be the Most Liberal Democrat Ever, and they'll all agree they really hate him but just have to vote for him anyway.

    Being hated only hurts a politician if it loses them enough votes to lose the election.

    CNN is all over a story that during the intelligence briefings to Obama and Trump about the Russians, there was a 2-page memo appended that said 1) the Russians claim there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government, and 2) the Russians claim they have compromising personal and financial info about Trump that they are holding over him.

    The source is British intelligence, supposedly. An agent who has ins with the Russians. And nobody is reporting any details -- what those compromising things are.

    This may blow away with the wind (or maybe there is nothing to it -- it is all made up in an effort to discredit Trump). But if it isn't this, it is going to be something, and we might as well get this out of the way now. We elected a dishonest bullshit artist who undoubtedly has more skeletons than a cemetery. This kind of thing is going to characterize his presidency, and I have thought all along there is a good chance he goes down in some kind of ethics scandal -- he won't be able to help himself. I know everyone thinks he is made out of Teflon, but I suspect his coating is going to turn out to be thin. He is a douchebag, has always been a douchebag, people don't REALLY like him, and he is not going to go 4 or 8 years before the world comes to its senses.

    Seems like a fair deal to me. Remove paintings depicting cops as pigs and remove memorials paying homage to those who defended the enslavement of humans and committed treason against the United States of America.
    Somehow, I doubt the GOP will do anything more to remove the images of their heroes. It was traumatic enough for them when they had to take down their favorite flags in their various state houses after their sympathizer opened fire on those pseudo Americans in Charleston.
