With regard to 'Exile on Main Street,' what does that guy have in his mouth?
    I've always wondered.

Then there's the whole genre of newspaper parody album covers (how quaint!).

    Newspaper Album Covers

My favorite always will be Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers." Besides being (IMHO) their best album, always loved the attention to detail on their fake newspaper, including slipping band members in among the "Amerikan League" batting leaders.

Also, the gatefold unfolds to show an opened PBJ sandwich.

Joplin's 'Cheap Thrills' cover by Crumb is cool.

That's actually not the original cover. The first one was pulled because, you know... bloody rape.

DK's 'Frankenchrist' was supposed to be the Giger piece, but that ended up as the poster insert.

    Great call.
    Also love 'Dressed to Kill.'

From the first album through 'Dynasty,' all of their covers were great, but 'Destroyer' is an all-time great.

Volunteers is not the best Airplane album nor best cover. Best cover is "After Bathing at Baxter's." Best album is probably the live one.

The Doors, Morrison Hotel. Nice and simple.

Blind Faith, self-titled. Don't want to get arrested so I won't post the cover photo.
