She has a shallow, surface understanding of education policy. She's a single-minded drone that wants to dismantle as much of primary and secondary public education as she can and Jesus up the rest. It is possible she has the intellectual firepower available to learn and grasp the details and scope of her proposed job, but she has shown no inclination to do so. She just repeats the same private/charter school talking points on the crusty laminated card swiped from the Fox News Channel green room.

As much as I was dismayed by the outcome of the election, the thought of that addlepated dipshit tossing and turning at night -- What have I done? What have I done? -- is not a trivial consolation.

Most of it for very good reason.

Meh ... I strongly suspect you're defining a "shallow, surface understanding of education policy" as one that leads to a particular policy result.

No, at the pending Secretary of Education.

No. I think Jeff Sessions, to take one example, will produce some pretty awful policy outcomes, but I freely acknowledge he knows his shit cold.

    By contrast ...

dq, really -- to argue that Betsy DeVos' lack of knowledge won't matter is to argue that the DOE doesn't matter. Which I realize is a huge belief among conservatives. But really, if she's going to be Secretary of Education, then Cabinet positions don't need to be based on qualifications at all.

Not everything can be chalked up to a "difference of opinion."

There's still such a thing as being objectively wrong. And, this incoming administration has been so no less than 80 percent of the time.
