And Tomlin made it worse and kept it in the news.

Has anyone here ever asked a coach, in the late game situations, why the teams even have a safety (sometimes 2!) 15 yds off the line of scrimmage? You know they're going to run (when have the every not? less than 2 mins left); yet they then give up yds. Why not stack the box with all 9 and sell out?

Did you see the Steelers' final possession? They threw the ball on first down and third down.

He talked about it during the press conference. I guess he could have refused to address it at all, but I don't have a problem with what he said.

Also, he's not pulling Brown to make a point. He even said he wouldn't "punish us" for it, meaning hurt the team by sitting Brown.

I believe it was second and third down after running Bell on first down.

You're right. Still, two plays out of three.

Yup. You made a good point. I was just addressing that one detail.

I think a lot of it depends on the quarterback. Does the team you are defending have a veteran they trust to make a smart decision in that situation. Also, nine in the box isn't always the best run defense. Sometimes that can turn a five or six-yard run into a long touchdown.

"Running up the score" has a Wikipedia entry. I kid you not.
