Sure. I know you support candidates or nominees based on laundry.

So, this is a blind test. You don't know the laundry the author wears.

Would their position on vouchers disqualify them for the job in your opinion?

'Round here last spring there came a powerful, but geographically concentrated, hailstorm. This area is the hail-damage center of the universe, so immediately my neighborhood was crawling with roof contractors. Everybody's got homeowner's insurance, and (practically) all of those policies have deductibles. And every roofing company, from the staid-est to the skeevy-est, had a way to get you a roof with no deductible. The trick is a "sign credit" ... the roofer, working off the insurer's estimate, gives you credit toward the repair if you'll allow it to advertise on your front lawn with a small sign. The whole thing's a fucking joke. Everybody knows what's going on. Nobody got anything for nothing, as everybody's premiums are a little bit higher than they otherwise should be.

Speaking of ... DeVos' testimony: Was it more or less disqualifying than that which tends to be provided by your garden-variety Supreme Court nominee (of either variety) in the post-Bork era?

Different jobs, though. Supreme Court justices shouldn't speculate on hypothetical cases. There's no reason for a cabinet appointee not to let us know where they stand on issues.

So when Trump nominates Ken Starr (@Baron Scicluna just passed out), on what topics would his demurrals be acceptable?

To me? Just about anything related to how he would judge a particular hypothetical case or issue.

You answer first. Do you support the choice of DeVos for Secretary of Education? If so, please tell me why without attacking somebody else.

I never said any candidate should be dismissed based on support for vouchers, so why is your test even relevant? It isn't. It is just another distraction to avoid the topic at hand.

Also, the problem with DeVos goes beyond her stances on relevant issues. She also lacks the relevant experience and showed a disturbing lack of understanding of very basic concepts related to education policy.

Some folks keep trying to say this is all about her opinions regarding education, but it isn't. Her flaws go well beyond her opinions.

In fairness to @outofplace, he did write this: "This isn't about laundry. This is about the woman's record, the causes she has supported and her lack of qualifications for the job."
