Have to say I'm somewhat assumed by the constant "Trump, without evidence . . . " screeches when all election cycle we were dealing with allegations from intelligence about Russian boogeymen that didn't contain actual, concrete evidence, either. The same politicized intelligence that caused disasters for Kennedy, Johnson and Bush43, among others.

Last night's episode. Sound waves for your brain.

The Obama administration deported way more undocumented immigrants than any other administration in our history. For which, they got absolutely zero credit on the right and which also hurt them tremendously with Hispanic-Americans.

So, yeah. After eight years of shipping folks back wholesale, I wouldn't blame some Dems if they were like, Ah, who cares....

I figure Trump will behave exactly the way he did with the birther crap. He'll shrug and say "OK, fine, there were only 11 cases of voter fraud in the entire nation. Now can we move on to important matters?"

The Dept. of Defense has posted a little story on its site about a refugee from a Muslim country who now is a Marine corporal. There's no institution that is more officially committed to pluralism than the armed forces.

There has to be compelling reason for Americans to care. I see two:

    >>A moral imperative, probably driven by faith or some liberal brand of secular humanism. This would describe me.

    >>Personally knowing or employing them.

Outside of that, what's the hook? Americans did not ask for refugees or undocumented immigrants to come here. They have taken blue collar jobs. They drain resources. They have shifted, in many areas, the purpose of public education.

Many Americans did not ask for a "richer culture." They liked their culture. They don't want to live around refugees and undocumented immigrants. TrumpPresCo. says they don't have to. They vote for him.

That quote is from a time when a president making immigration policy by executive order was a bad thing.

You can't see it in the above clip because it's zoomed in, but as my wife pointed out when looking at the full wide angle, you can see Ivanka tilt her head to the side to see around Melania, make eye contact, raise her eyebrows and laugh. It looks like Melania thought he was turning to say something to her and instead he said something to Ivanka.

You might want to dig a little deeper. The Obama administration considered folks turned away at the border to be deportations. No previous administration did this.

And, while the number of folks illegally crossing the border was way up, deportations from the interior declined drastically:

Oh, please. What you're saying is that bigotry is OK when white people do it. The reason undocumented immigrants find work here is that they take jobs that are going begging. Those Trump voters aren't lining up at the mall parking lot to be day laborers nor are they flocking to cushy slaughterhouse jobs in Iowa. Most of the world is nonwhite and young, and white Americans are increasingly an older group. This freaks them out. The places where immigrants DO mostly live, big cities and their near environs, are much less freaked out by it than their rural peers.

    Sure. It wasn't/isn't.

And, Dems are going to regret all of the power they granted to Obama. They cheered him when he governed with a pen and a phone.

Now, all of his executive orders can be undone with the stroke of a pen, and policies diametrically opposed to Obama's can be instituted in a similar fashion.

    Isn't it great!
