Yes, they did, extreme cold, but unfortunately for my parents, their seats were in the same section as Bush's, so they weren't allowed to get in them until he arrived (traffic hurt him too, nor leave after the game until he was escorted out. They were Republicans, yet very unhappy with Bush for a week or two.

He's a tragedy — a brilliant, important economist who has become undone by his need to be praised.

Re: this lagging FEMA response, I don't know what the complaint 'round here is ... the sj.com lefty caucus has been consistent in the view that conservative opposition to some of the Sandy-related bills means that reliably red states shouldn't get any FEMA money, ever.

Quant. I must in fairness note that the one time Trump was at a sports event I covered, a 1999 ALCS game at the Stadium, he left in the seventh inning of a tie game. He was in the elevator as a bunch of us went down to the press room from the press box. So maybe he'll be back in Florida by the trophy presentations.

I was at that Super Bowl myself as a college senior (working for the league). My job was to keep photographers behind the yellow line, relay injury reports to the press box and get post-game "quickie" quotes to transcribe for the media. In reality, I spent much of my time trying to flirt and take pictures with the Ben-Gals cheerleaders. Anyway, the weather was awful that week. I remember that getting to the parties from my outpost in Dearborn was a pain in the neck. I also remember talking to George Young, who was the Giants' GM at the time, on the bus ride to the game.

I was a kid, but we were in Detroit (suburbs) that week for my grandparents wedding anniversary.

Are lunch in the restaurant at the Silverdome, and were excited to seee the broadcasters for the game were there. I think Bradshaw was among them.

Remember it being cold, and the thought that it would be a long time before they held another cold wheather Super Bowl.
