Career foreign service officers, such as these folks, are not boat-rockers by nature nor training. Also, to be senior, one has seniority, presumably enough that they could quietly retire for their pensions. They chose this instead. Something very drastic must have happened/occurred to them during the transition or in the last week.

Exactly. They aren't not politicians. They are not partisans. They keep their heads down and do the country's work - regardless of who is in the Oval.
