I think the point was the disconnect between Mary being so active in the credits, and so sedentary on the show.

King of Queens was set in Queens, but all you see is west LA in their outside shots.

That full episode is also on YouTube, as are the first and last episodes.

Lou Grant had the best punchline, shrugging off Ted Baxter and saying: "I was talking about the chimp."

Of course, it is just a practical issue.
Limit the number of sets, not shooting on location, etc.

Oh, I don't think that would have been necessary. Seinfeld's characters were out and about all the time, in many places supposed to represent New York (but were actually shot in Studio City, Calif.). Just about all the "street" scenes were shot at 5555 Melrose Avenue in Hollywood (including Jerry swiping the old lady's marble rye).

Wait. So it didn't just happen to be good weather in New York for every street scene, other than maybe the Kenny Rogers Roasters conclusion?

    Hmm. Good to know.

Pickles. I realize somebody else may have had this earlier, but I this was like a batting practice fastball and I couldn't resist

I remember an episode where Lou Grant followed Ted's system for picking football games and there was something about the Vikings. It happened the Vikings were playing in the Super Bowl that year, and they had Mary voice over something at the end of the episode.

I remember that. I looked it up and it was called "The System" and Aired jan. 11, 1975.

From imdb: Mary Tyler Moore did a voice over during the closing credits on the original air date, reminding the audience this was a work of fiction, but if the Vikings did win the next day, "remember, you heard it first at WJM".

I saw it a few weeks ago. The point spreads Lou and Murray talk about were outrageous. Most seemed to be in the 10-17 range, which are complete outliers in the NFL today.

The episode spanned the entire NFL season, from week one to the lamest super bowl gathering ever. The gang including Georgette, Ted, Murray, Lou and Mary's boyfriend, sitting on hard backed chairs, staring at a 19 inch tv.

    I think Mary offered coffee.
