Divide and conquer. This White House, and this Republican Congress, are all about polarization.

And it's a dangerous game in all directions to use the media as bait. It's also a cowardly game.

 

Yep. That's going to be the line every goosestep of the way.

 

Gerrymandered districts and red state senators. Despite the fact that the majority of American voters oppose them from the left, they have more to fear from the populist right in terms of not being primaried

 

Making rational arguments to the public is a sure-fire winning strategy instead of using the media.

 

How about something like: "We used the threat of a 20 percent tariff to get Mexico back to the bargaining table to renegotiate NAFTA and make huge improvements that will reduce the trade deficit by far more than the $15 billion needed to build the wall."

 

When do Republicans like unions in government jobs? When it's the Border Patrol union supporting Trump.

That implies a level of finesse we have yet to see from this White House.

 

Mexico will respond by refusing to negotiate and with tariffs of their own. There's no percentage for any politician in that country to say anything but "fuck you" to Trump.
