UAB won, despite being outscored by four points with the man advantage.

He's not just a coach, he's a teacher and educator. Nothing says that more than humiliating and embarrassing children for failure to live up to your expectations. That always works and the kids just respect you that much more.

Went to the VCU-Dayton game last night. Absolute blast. I really appreciate VCU's crowd as one of the more knowledgeable in college basketball. They know when it's critical to stand up. They don't need the scoreboard to prompt them, or players to wave their arms frantically. That was a killer atmosphere. The A-10 has some pretty good teams, but I doubt more than two make it to the tournament, barring URI going on a huge run.

Florida State should go back to playing all ranked teams. After laying an egg at GT, now they're getting clowned by Syracuse. Turnovers outnumber field goals 12-10.

Was just coming here to ask what's up with Florida State. And GT is up on Notre Dame at half. I didn't think much of the Pastner hire, but maybe he'd just worn out his welcome at Memphis and needed to move on.

The worn-out-his-welcome thing seems to have merit. Some around Memphis feel that Pastner had great success with some of Cal's leftover recruits, and that the same thing is probably happening in Atlanta. Now, I don't know about that, because I didn't think much of Brian Gregory as a recruiter. But that's a theory, anyway. Year 5 was when it started to go downhill in Memphis.

    Can we change the subject?

Honest answer: so much made of six game ranked stretch, a letdown or whatever you call it is unsurprising, coupled with first extended road trip and defensive styles that FSU has trouble with. Disappointed, but not surprised.

I expect a close win at Miami next week, especially if the Canes continue this beat down of UNC.

Except no one thought Tech had much talent on the roster this year.
