By and large the country wouldnt give a shit. How many people do you think would go storming into the street heartbroken over the loss of dear sweet beloved Donald Trump?

Even his "supporters" don't like him personally; a large percentage of his supporters say, "he's an asshole, but he's such an asshole he can get things done." That's about the nearest thing to a "logical" reason anyone can come up with for supporting him.

Almost nobody actually LIKES Trump, has any affection for him personally, or thinks he really has any intention to do anything for the benefit of anybody but himself.
If he got smoked a sizable percentage of the nation would say, "oh well." A much larger percentage would say something else altogether.

 

It's amazing. Years after The Wire ended, useful and relevant quotes from it are still springing out of my subconscious.
