    What's unprecedented?

Very little of what Trump has done, or has proposed to is unprecedented.

The overheated reactions are unprecedented. At least when some right-wingers alleged that Obama was hiding his birth certificate to obscure his nation of origin, that was completely confined to the lunatic right-wing fringe. It would have surely disqualified a serious presidential candidate.

Putting a white nationalist on the National Security Council seems unprecedented.

The religion test is a fun new one.

Keeping his business ties and refusing to disclose conflicts is unprecedented in addition to being unconstitutional.

And of course the whole "teaming up with Mother Russia" thing.

    But yeah, standard procedure.

Did Obama ever put someone on the National Security Council who described themselves as a "Leninist" who wanted to see the state destroyed?

Because if not, I feel like this equivalences just aren't quite getting there.

At this point, I wonder if the idea is to weaken our national security apparatus so much that pissing off every Muslim, all 1.6 billion of 'em, DOES create the opportunity for a mass terror attack on US soil, not the lone wolf massacres that have been the norm since 9/11. What's a few thousand innocent bodies if your goal is absolute power?

Obama didn't explicitly call for them on the campaign trail.

The "both sides are the same" school of thought is fundamentally unprepared for a situation where a third side has coopted the mechanisms of a major party to bring to the forefront a school of thought once considered unthinkable in America.

Cuomo's statement was made in April 2015, on the day recognized as Yom Hashoah in Israel:

“Today, we commemorate Yom Hashoah – the day that memorializes the more than six million people who died during the Holocaust. I join with people of all faiths around the world in remembering those we lost.

“On this day, here in New York, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals of acceptance and freedom of worship and expression that define who we are as a state. By speaking out against discrimination and practicing tolerance and inclusion for people from all walks of life we continue to honor the memory of those who perished. It is with this spirit of peace that we strive to forever refute the hatred of the past, and ensure the world never again witnesses this kind of evil.”

Cuomo recognized Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day by its Hebrew name, as well as referring to the six million killed. Most people can understand the reference to the six million, even without the clues of the day of the statement and Hebrew words.
