Heitkamp won in 2012 in a Democratic year by 3,000 votes against a GOP who ran a terrible campaign. It wasn't as bad as Akin's meltdown but it wasn't good.

This is smart positioning for 2018 which will be a solid year for Democrats if Trump keeps doing this. Add in the DAPL protests in North Dakota and Heitkamp will go back for six more years.

North Dakota has a lot of Minnesota/Frontier social outlook. It's an economically conservative state with extremely low unemployment and solid prosperity (great schools, affordable homes).

 

I’m starting to wonder if we – the American public – are being duped in someway or do I have my tinfoil hat on too tight? Should we really be watching the skies or at least casting a few furtive glances elsewhere?
