Much happier to see Orton win than Reigns, but not sure if Cena-Orton at 'Mania does it for me.

 

They still have the Elimination Chamber PPV, so it's conceivable they switch the title off of Cena then. That gets reign No. 16 out of the way quickly and they can pivot to his record-breaker later in the year.
Still, I don't know who you'd pair Orton with that makes sense right now. As the endgame of the Rumble was unfolding I was expecting them to set up a Wyatt Family triple threat match for Wrestlemania. Unless Bray wins the title in the Elimination Chamber and we get Orton-Wyatt? And then they set up Cena-Undertaker as a non-title main event?

 

I just told my wife (who thinks Orton is hunky) that I wasn't as happy to see Orton win as I was to see Reigns lose.

 

Maybe they have Styles win it back and you get Cena-Styles-Orton. But I kinda hate that too because it diminishes the Rumble win some.

 

What about Orton-Undertaker?
They've fought at Mania before, but it might as well have been two different guys it was so long ago.

 

Top to bottom great show, great build, only thing that felt awful was Reigns coming in but they did it to get Orton some love so in the end it makes perfect sense.

Still pissed Styles lost. It was an amazing match but he should've won.

Little pissed off we didn't see Samoa Joe. Cute spot with Dillinger at 10 but big picture that's stupid when Joe's on the shelf.

 

30 Rumble thoughts....

1. I didn't figure on Balor. From the list of his injuries, I still think it's way too early for him to be healthy enough to do anything without risking a major setback of his recovery.

3. But, I figured we'd get better NXT call ups than The Perfect 10, which I think everybody spotted from a mile away. No Nakamura? Well, I guess if you caught his match on Saturday, highly improbable with an injury angle. Smoa Joe? Smoa Joe's my bitch! Let me tell you about the math when it comes to Smoa Joe! Gimme a fuckin' mic!

5. No Angle? Didn't expect him either. I think he's one of the few who they may not let rassle for health reasons, fo reals.

7. Didn't see the point of the shark cage, other than to help Mattel sell the new toy. Did the new toy come out before the NXT match at Toronto? I'm too lazy to Google these things.

9. Charlotte looks great again. I didn't think she'd drop the title to Bayley so soon, which is good. Bayley's character still needs some work to get me to the point I would find her a viable contender to The Queen.

11. Tough to see Styles do the job, but Cena tying and breaking Flair's record is a foregone conclusion. Somebody has to eat those two pins. So, Cena has to defend in the Chamber in two weeks. But this will be considered Styles's rematch. He'll get no one-on-one rematch. Otherwise, they can't set him up to feud with someone else if Cena doesn't drop the title to Bray to set up ...
