This would be equivalent if CFB had already picked the eight teams because if they waited until the games were played teams might cheat.

That line about the "rushing over" bit tells me that the original intent was to cover holders of green cards.

And while I'm sure it's bullshit, the stated reason for the halt was to review vetting procedures. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with shutting down a process for review without knowing what you're going to do in response. That's the whole point of the review.

Yeah. "Putin" was misspelled as "Steve Bannon" ...

Beyond the fact that this gives the people the idea that there is a problem where it doesn't really exist, it's fine to review procedures but don't pull the plug on folks already cleared.

    It's "whom I have nominated."

The rule is so easy: Verb after "who/whom", it's "who." Noun after "who/whom", it's "whom".

A SCOTUS announcement in primetime so the networks will carry it? Has that ever been done before?

It will be announced live on Tuesday.

As opposed to, "it will be announced on tape delay on Tuesday."

I had the same thought. Seems weird to make this a primetime event.

Sorry, but if a process is clearing people it shouldn't be clearing -- and please note that I'm not saying that is the case here; I'm just dealing with the abstract idea -- there's nothing unreasonable about saying we're going to shut it down and fix it.

Not since Richard Nixon announced a dolled-up, tube-topped, cutoff jort-wearing Warren Burger on that episode of Hee Haw back in 1969.*

    * Not a real historical fact
