It is human nature that in politics, most people only react to something that affects themselves in a direct way they can understand. That's why the economy is always issue one because everyone is in it whether they like it or not. Supreme Court nominations are important, but they're so divorced from everyday reality most voters couldn't name three Justices out of the eight going on nine. The Muslim ban has more impact because it has human beings at its center that are on TV voters can see or identify with or not, but very of us know any Muslim Americans or immigrants. It's a small fraction of the population. When Trump creates his deportation secret police and diners at restaurants watch the line cooks being dragged out in handcuffs, or when Johnnie and or Jennie come home from school and talk about how a friend of theirs was hauled away, the reaction will stronger. Obamacare? Stronger yet, and so on up the line. That's why trade, the issue Trumps seems to care about the most, is the most dangerous for him. People notice if their groceries are more expensive, or if their plant shuts down because the parts are too expensive for their company to import.
Oh, yeah one more. Americans really don't like wars that don't end in six weeks with total victory. Few of those out there right now.

You say that as if it is a new thing. YF has been using his sliding scale of evidence for a long time.

So, he drove 100 miles or more, before deciding to bail, turned around, and drove home?

There's no evidence of this, and only an idiot would do so.

    Now you're losing it.

Should be easy enough for reporters to confirm if he met with another judge in Pennsylvania, btw

The entire gotcha here is based on Spicer saying the stories were not true, but his word is meaningless.

Again, this is about you. You keep laying down the law over how this outlet or that can't be trusted because it got this detail wrong or that detail wrong. You've railed on this SCOTUS thing much more than the Quebec City inaccuracy by FNC. Why?

But since you asked, I don't trust many commentators at all. But FNC - led by Hannity - employs the worst of them. (Except for Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless and Colin Cowherd, of course.) But you are confusing commentators and reporters.

The gotcha is that Harriman wasn't in D.C. and didn't humiliate himself by showing up for a "rose ceremony" as was suggested by so many.

Someone who shouldn't be a Supreme Court justice but was up for the job because he is friends with the president's sister might do something like that. It's an old play: Hire people at levels they wouldn't otherwise attain and they will be more loyal. Al Davis' Raiders were built on that for the last 20 years.

Spicer's statement does seem to confirm that Hardiman drove 100 miles east. That seems like an odd thing to do for no reason.

As I mentioned a few pages ago, the only remaining question for me is whether Hardiman wittingly participated in childish disinformation tactics.

I'm just bringing up questions TV news won't because TV news thrives on "sob stories" to a much-greater degree than even Salon or Slate.

BTW, TV station has added a note it is checking on the claims. In other words, the reporter didn't bother to ask enough questions.
