2016-17 Running NBA Thread

I never said the story sucked.

I think it's pointless minutiae.

 

Aaron Gordon's numbers in almost every statistical category involving efficiency are down from last year. He's shooting twice as many 3-pointers as he was a year ago and is still hitting just 29 percent of them. He's taking four more shots per game to increase his points per game average by two points from a season ago. His offensive rebounding has gone down.

But none of this is news and is definitely not worth discussing why he might not be getting more efficient shots.

Jesus Christ.

 

Some people like to see past the obvious. For instance, here's a thread started by a poster wondering about one small and largely unimportant facet in the game of the world's best baseball player.

Why doesn't Mike Trout steal bases any more?

What was that poster thinking?

 

I'm not as good a basketball fan as you.

 

I'm sorry I find value and enjoyment in things you don't.

Cheer up. Everyone on this message board will die someday. The universe's density will one day cause it to stop expanding. It will contract upon itself. Everything we do or say , every person we've ever met and every thing we've read or written will be rendered pointless minutiae.

Then you'll be right about Aaron Gordon's shooting percentage not mattering.

 

Is the NBA thread always this bad?

I only stopped by for some Jimmy Dolan bashing. The rest of the content is terrible.

 

My thoughts on seeing the link:

1) Who is Aaron Gordon?
2) Man, I should know who Aaron Gordon is. Didn't he play for Villanova?
3) *checks Wikipedia* Nope. I know nothing about Aaron Gordon.
4) Probably would have known something about Aaron Gordon if I followed sports like I did a few years ago.
5) Maybe I should start watching NBA more. This sounds like a fun story to get away from all the stories about politics and money in sports.
6) Nah, probably not. I'm barely following the NBA champion Cavs despite living 10 minutes from their arena. Just waiting for the playoffs (i.e., Finals).
7) I guess that's why my fantasy basketball team has been a joke the last three years and I don't even want to log in to make trades right now.
8) Plus the Magic suck and have almost always sucked and probably will continue to suck for years and years.
9) *reads article* Sounds like their coach sucks.
10) *checks Aaron Gordon's stats* He's not even that good.

 

Who Orlando plays tonight matters.

And, who will not be on the court for the 10th time in 11 games matters.

Talk about that, nerds.

 

Cut me some slack. I'm just a lonely cubicle dweller trying to cope with another day of not writing for "Esquire" magazine.

 

Good point. I am running low on globe-critical work myself for today.

 

The fundamentals are better on a WNBA thread.

 

They're considerably less entertaining since 93Devil left.
