Spicer said she has been "counseled."

    She's not going anywhere.

The biggest reasons that the Alabama Democratic Party is all but nonexistent are black racism and general (as in not race related) incompetence. Anyone not blessed by Joe Reed receives neither his blessing nor a slot on the ticket, even if there is no one but a Republican running in that district. Getting his blessing involves submitting to his directives and kissing his ring.

As massively screwed up as the business of this state is there should be at least a chance for an opposition party to win a few seats. The Dems here are far more incompetent than the Republicans who are running the state into the ground via the culture wars, stupidity, graft, and allegiance to Grover Norquist.

Good post. Here's the choice: Do you want to win elections? Or just pat yourselves on the back boasting about your moral superiority to those with actual power?

I'm not sure how some dems honestly feel about that question, given the way they often seem to be sneering at and purposely trying to drive away working class people that used to form their party's base. This whole attitude where anyone who doesn't agree with our entire social agenda gets labeled a bigot or boob has done a lot of self-inflicted damage. You know, parents not wanting their daughters sharing bathrooms with grown men in dresses does not make them hateful monsters, stop acting like it does.

Remember Bill Clinton's "Sister Soulja moment" in 92? Maybe today's party needs an analogous Lena Dunham moment that clearly signals to middle America that it doesn't necessarily endorse every bit of the worldview her crowd represents. Unlike Hillary, who selected Dunham as her opening night Convention speaker--did she think that would send a warm and welcoming message to your typical church-going middle America family?

In his first call as president with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump denounced a treaty that caps U.S. and Russian deployment of nuclear warheads as a bad deal for the United States, according to two U.S. officials and one former U.S. official with knowledge of the call.

When Putin raised the possibility of extending the 2010 treaty, known as New START, Trump paused to ask his aides in an aside what the treaty was, these sources said.
