weren't highways initially constructed in order to quickly move military equipment? I guess that qualifies as a good intention.

I've got to admit, I kinda like the occasional airing of the grievances like this.

But as Lena Dunham will tell you, I'm an asshole.

I guess I don't post or visit enough to notice how people react or respond to me. Except for TyWebb and LongTimeListener, the PC police who laughably think I'm a misogynist and can eat the peanuts out of my shit.

The odd thing about Typefitter is that he has it in his head that I was one of the people coming at him here a decade ago or more. Apparently it was really bad on the Journalism only board. I didn't know any of that was going on then, or for years afterward, let alone was I a part of it.

whatever, he's his own worst enemy and brings it on himself, which he'd probably admit.

Maybe, although I've never seen him acknowledge that he shouldn't demean people's lives and careers. I think he thinks it's in bounds. In fact, he told an interviewer thst he can't "abide" criticism from "the peanut gallery," i.e. people not at his level, professionally.

The principle here was always that you could criticize big names, but it was not fair to criticize people working in small towns and such. That seems fair. Except at the same time, there were some big names posting here, and if you didn't know that, you could end up in this strange cross fire where you just thought an "Esquire" piece was fair game, but really a Civil War was being played out.

I've heard of that place. I think it's called the self-congratulatory circle jerk of like-minded people. Everyone who's outside of it laughs at how pretentious and douchey it is, while the people within it mistakenly believe that the critics are jealous of the members.

Or they screw in their tinfoil hats and accuse you of being a double agent lol because yo, that's what I lived for, to sign up at Funny Farm 2.0 to acquire and pass sub-board info on to Der Kommissar.

Speaking of which, that song holds up well.

This is just a passive-aggressive version of a continued personal attack.

If you keep refusing to let it go, Dickie, the problem is not with others.
