Trump's explicit and implicit platform was a welfare state for whites and a police state for non-whites. Since the first promise was a flat-out lie, all he can deliver to his voters is the latter. The history of the South suggests that'll be enough to keep them happy as they lose their health insurance, SNAP payments, etc.

The lawyer's excuse would suggest that far more people are voting illegally.

The sentence for Ms. Ortega, who was brought to this country by her mother as an infant, “shows how serious Texas is about keeping its elections secure,” Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, said in a statement. Her lawyer called it an egregious overreaction, made to score political points, against someone who wrongly believed she was eligible to vote.

“She has a sixth-grade education. She didn’t know she wasn’t legal,” said Ms. Ortega’s lawyer, Clark Birdsall, who once oversaw voter fraud prosecutions in neighboring Dallas County. “She can own property; she can serve in the military; she can get a job; she can pay taxes. But she can’t vote, and she didn’t know that.”

Most likely for Republicans, like she did.

Christ almighty, EIGHT years in prison, leaving four children without a mother, because this (legal permanent resident) woman cast a vote:
That sentence is just evil. And Trump is plain insane if he thinks this is happening by the millions. Just look at the obscene overreaction here to it happening once.

What does Ken Paxton know about integrity?

Wiki: On July 31, 2015, a state grand jury indicted Paxton on charges of felony securities fraud. Paxton's indictment marked the first such criminal prosecution of a Texas Attorney General in 32 years since Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox was indicted for bribery in 1983. ... On August 3, 2015, following the grand jury indictment, Paxton was arrested and booked. He faces two first-degree securities fraud charges, along with another third-degree felony charge, which carry a total sentence of 5 to 99 years if he is convicted. He was released on $35,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege that Paxton, while he was a legislator in the Texas statehouse, advised investors to fund financial firm Mowery Capital Management and technology firm Servergy without disclosing that he was being paid by the companies. Paxton allegedly raised $840,000 from investors in Servergy without conducting due diligence regarding the company's false claims that its computer servers were highly energy efficient or that it had already made bulk sales. ... Paxton says he did not receive compensation, and that the 100,000 shares of the company that he received from Servergy's founder were a gift.

Trump expresses "full confidence" in Flynn. Wonder how Pence feels about that? If he had any nerve or integrity, he'd tell Trump, it's Flynn or me. If you don't can him, I'll resign. But he won't, of course.

Ukraine was "terribly divided" because Russia has for several decades settled retired Russian military families in the Crimea. It worked, they voted the right way.
