A nice thought but impossible. Democrats will lose ground in the Senate because they're defending 25 seats. Think of that. More than half their seats are up in one cycle. If things were mathematically normal, the total would be 16.
As for the House? Democrats won't even bother to run in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, et al. Gerrymandered districts courtesy of state legislatures ensure a GOP majority for decades. Terrible but true.

Not true for Texas. It was in 2016 and that was malpractice. Several Rs ran unopposed in districts where Clinton beat Trump. As for the Senate, the same math was supposed to be the case in 2006. There are no guarantees -- but that works both ways.

You are right. It's a gift to intelligence. One reason the world is a little (not a lot, a little) safer is that weapons test by one nation wind up with the data known by almost all nations.

 

Plus it's a bit of an international PR victory to see these countries doing rogue things like firing weapons that could one day have a nuke strapped on top of them.
