This is one of the most ridiculous basketball posts since Devil thought the Heat should trade Lebron.

Also, what is similar about Miller and Thomas?

I think that all the pastey cupcakes holding signs and booing during the Warriors/Thunder game only served as a conformation to Kevin Durant of the primary reasons for leaving Oklahoma City.

    They're both right-handed.

    And black.

    That's all I got.

Thing is, I can buy that Thomas was a product of his supporting cast as much as his own talent.

The comparison I use is to John Wall. If Wall had the defenders and the toughness those Pistons teams had, he'd easily be as successful as Thomas was. Now, he's lucky if he cracks the top 5 PGs in the NBA.

This ignores what Thomas did when the Pistons were garbage when he first got there. He was an instant star.

    First 5 years on the Pistons: 39-43, 37-45 -- 49-33 blip -- 46-36, 46-36.

And Wall's having a great year and the Wizards are No. 3 in the East.

No, Thomas was a tremendous individual player who dialed down his game to fit into a championship team. He had four years in a row of 20 pts/10 assists and no doubt could have kept going like that for another four or five years. As much of a prick as we think of him being now (and he is), he made the very rare superstar move of giving up some personal glory to win.

I liked the end of the era, when a local personality referred to the Pistons as the Rustons. Or maybe it was Rustoffs.
