He ought to tune into the new 6 p.m. Sports Center, which is designed for laughs with two charismatic young AA co-hosts.

All right, I was just guessing at what the line chart was. That's outside the margin of error. But ... based on those numbers you posted, most of the Dems' change came from undecideds. Grouping the categories, here's what we have:

    DEMS
    Positive (July-Dec) 15-64
    Negative (July-Dec) 12-74

    REPUBLICANS
    Positive (July-Dec) 16-37
    Negative (July-Dec) 69-47

Especially among Republicans, where the "don't know" was the same at both times, we see that more than 20 percent changed their minds about Putin -- as in, they used to think he was bad but now they think he's good. That roughly 20 percent number continues to own Republican politics. That's the number that thought Obama was a Muslim and/or born in Kenya. That's the number that identified as Tea Party. And now, that's the number that decided, upon Trump's nomination, that they suddenly like Vladimir Putin. I'm going to guess there's a high, high, high overlap in the Venn diagram of those three groups I just mentioned.

There is also the matter of, in this case and looking at American interests, there is a right and a wrong answer. Putin is bad. Fact.

    1. He told a couple of jokes in the beginning. The one that got the best response was at Melania's expense, and was about her RNC speech being the same as Michelle's.

    B. Yes. It was incredibly awkward when he went after Hillary in a less than lighthearted way.

    3. It was also awkward when Hillary responded in kind.

From the CNN report on ground troops in Syria, "although the exact mission is not yet clear." Says it all. "Come up with a plan that makes us (me) look tough!" Holy hell, Custer had far more explicit orders than that.

Think Trump regrets asking Russia to find and release Hillary's emails now that he has to tsk-tsk leakers?

Also to Regis Philbin, who botched it and ended up with a broken nose.

Oh, I agree with you there. When I waded into this little meander, all I was getting at was that it sure looked to me as if both Republican and Democrat poll respondents were responding to Putin through a partisan lens (the enemy of my friend and all that).

There are none so blind as those who will not see.
