President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

Can we get odds on Trump remaining in office, instead holed up inside Mar-A-Lago refusing to leave?

 

One of the Vol message boards I lurk on is about 96 percent basket of deplorables.

This is their reaction to the Trump press conference:

---- "Trump is flat out calling out the media, the democrats, and those who are enabling them. And that little twit Jim Acosta, who used to be a local reporter for Channel 10 in Knoxville, is getting flat out embarrassed by the President. This is a presser a lot of us have been waiting on since inauguration day.
---- "He is wearing them out. Never seen anything like it."
---- "It's glorious. I wish he would throw a few more shots as he leaves easy zingers just sitting there (just like he did in debates). When that asshole asked about him making the american people lose confidence in the 1st amendment ... he should have said the press has done that ... that's there job to make the public respect them not his. He also should have hammered home their constant agenda and push towards all things negative ... it's not only what you report .. it's what you DON'T report. They set the tone and it's a constant attacking negative tone. But overall ... he's killing them and making them look like complete fools. When he talks directly the American people .. he wins .. EVERY TIME."
---- "That is how a BOSS handles his shit."
---- "I thought there were a couple of times when he showed a very human, caring person that you don't usually see."


As for me, I'm ashamed to be a Tennessean.

Gonna say getting snarky on Twitter is not going to help the cause.

 

It's clearer than ever that the biggest reason Trump won the weird win he got because he is an excuse for many white people to let their bigotry run wild. White racism is the most powerful political force in our society (not all-powerful, plurality-powerful) and he energized it. Makes me real proud to be a white American for sure.
PS: But spending all your time playing to the base is not a good strategy. Not that that the press conference was strategic. Trump IS his base. He's the same mix of misinformation and resentment of other people.

 

They're just letting him know he had his facts mixed up in a polite and funny way!

Edit: Trump could turn this into a yuuge positive by playing along and tweeting back something funny and getting a meeting set up.

Let's see if he does.
